Big black mid-tower of failure

I just don’t have the spirit to deal with fixing this machine. It’sテつliterally paralyzing. I’ll sit around for hours in the time where Iテつwould normally be playing games and instead just sit aroundテつdoing…nothing. Just staring at my big black mid-tower of failure.

It’s not that I don’t have other machines that I could playテつon. My new MacBook Pro is supposed to have a pretty hot video card. Iテつcould install Windows on that. And Asus just gave me a couple of newテつreview laptops, both of which are supposed to be wicked fast forテつgames. (Disclaimer: Asus is currently a sponsor of Boing Boing, butテつthese are just review units. They may suck!)

But the thing that’s killing me is Fallout 3. I absolutelyテつadored playing it, but I’ve already put several hours into it テ「竄ャ窶敕つprobably a couple of dozen. And I could restart with a new characterテつon these new machines, but I don’t wanna. I hateテつreplaying games.

Getting my save game off the broken gaming machine may be possible,テつbut if you can believe it I don’t have another working PCI-E videocardテつaround the house, so I can’t even get the machine to start running
long enough to get it on the network.

So it looks like my only option may be…evil. If I install XP orテつVista on my MacBook Pro テ「竄ャ窶 the one machine I’m taking with me asテつI go out of town for the next three weeks テ「竄ャ窶 I could installテつFallout 3. And since I played a good character the firstテつtime, the best chance I have of not playing the same game over is
being a real bastard. A child-killing, junk-stealing, mutant-lovingテつbastard.

Maybe this won’t be so bad.

I know this is kind of old and you’re probably done with this. but why not take the hard drive out of that PC and put it as a slave drive on another. You can then treat yourself to your game save.

This actually could be a blessing in disguise with the 20-level cap on developing your character, and the free-form nature of the gameplay. Still a bummer though.

(I’m actually planning to restart this game as a villain myself)
